FAN ART: Battletech / MechWarrior GOL-5D Goliath

GOL-5D Goliath, an 80 ton four-legged BattleMech.

Instead of just following strictly the TRO art or the miniatures, I went and reworked a number of parts. With all of the different variants, the designs were incredibly asymmetrical. It was difficult to figure out the base 'mech underneath all of the cannons, missile launchers, and assorted extras.

Even picking which version to build was tricky when I got the 'mech itself completed. Did I want to go with the original GOL-1H Goliath, the slow, plodding under-gunned assault based on an Anime mecha? Or go with the newer version with a different set of weapons? And even then there were a number of those to choose from. In the end I went with this model, but built it so I can modify it to represent any number of variants.

I designed the Extended Range Medium lasers based on the Rhinemetall laser turret (A real thing!) and the machine guns are from the M230 chain gun that's mounted under the Apache Longbow. The Rotary Autocannon mounted on the torso was based on the actual TRO art with my own design tweaks.
